Cracked screens, dead batteries, failing hinges, keyboards that stopped and charging ports that no longer hold — repaired on-site where possible, at the bench where it is not.
Portable machines fail differently from desktops: it is nearly always the parts that move, flex or carry power.
Impact damage, spreading ink blots, backlight failure or an image only visible at an angle. Panel replacement is a standard job; a dark screen that is not the panel is usually the cable or board and needs testing first.
Dead at the wall, charging only when the cable is held at an angle, or a battery that drops from full to nothing. A loose DC jack, a worn cable, or a battery past its cycle count.
Dead keys, repeating characters, a trackpad that clicks but will not move. Spill damage, a failed ribbon connection or wear — usually a keyboard assembly rather than a whole machine.
Fans at full speed, the underside too hot to hold, performance falling away after a few minutes. Dust-blocked vents and dried thermal paste, and one of the cheapest jobs we do.
A lid that will not stay up, a cracked corner near the hinge, a screen bezel lifting away. Left alone this pulls the display cable apart and turns a small repair into a large one.
A logo that never progresses, a spinning cursor that never ends, or a laptop that restarts before it finishes. Storage, memory or a corrupted operating system, and all three are testable on site.
The parts that actually fail on portable machines.
Mainstream consumer and business hardware, Windows and macOS.
We work on standard consumer and business laptops from the major manufacturers — Dell, HP, Lenovo, ASUS, Acer, Microsoft Surface and Apple MacBook — plus the ultrabooks and 2-in-1s that share their parts. Business-class machines are often the easiest to repair well, because the parts are still made.
Some very thin models glue rather than screw the battery and panel in place. Where that is the case we say so before booking, along with what it means for cost and turnaround.
Screens, batteries and keyboards are usually a single visit once the part is in hand.
What it does, when it started and what changed just before. Half of a diagnosis happens on the phone.
A technician tests the machine at your address and finds the actual cause — not the first plausible one.
Repair, upgrade or replace, priced in plain language. Nothing is opened or ordered before you agree.
Where the drive is healthy enough, your files are copied off before any reinstall or hardware change.
Parts fitted, software rebuilt, settings restored. Most jobs finish in the first visit.
We run it, show you it working and tell you what to watch for. Follow-up support if it recurs.
Portable machines get repaired properly here, not clamped back together.
Different machine, different failure pattern.
Screens, batteries, spills and whether it is worth it.
Describe the problem and we will tell you what it takes to fix it — before any work starts.
Yes. We identify the exact panel for your model, quote it, and fit it once the part arrives — usually in a single visit. If the fault turns out to be the cable or the board rather than the panel, we tell you before ordering anything.
Most laptop batteries hold useful capacity for three to five years. Nearly all can be replaced; on some very thin models the battery is glued and the job takes longer, which we flag before booking.
Sometimes, and the deciding factor is what you did next. Power it off, do not charge it, and call. We can often save the machine or, at minimum, recover the data from the drive.
Often, yes. An SSD and a memory increase transform a machine that still has a healthy screen, battery and board — and cost a fraction of a replacement. We will tell you when it is worth it and when it is not.
Yes. Storage, batteries, startup problems, macOS rebuilds and data migration. See our Mac Repair page for what that covers.
Yes for diagnosis, software work and most upgrades. Screen and hinge work is sometimes better done at the bench — if so we say why, agree it with you, and return the machine to you afterwards.
We travel to homes and offices across the Los Angeles area. If your address is nearby but not listed, ask when you get in touch.
Tell us the make, model and what it is doing. We will tell you the likely fix and cost before booking.
